Daylily Collectibles

I have recently become intrested in collecting vintage (and sometimes not-so-vintage) daylily items and you might be surprised at how difficult they are to come by.

Many times an item is adverstised as a daylily (also spelled daylilly, day lily or day lilly) and is actually an Oriental Lily, a Water Lily -- or some other completley different flower!

But sometimes daylilies show up in the oddest places and it makes the hunt a great deal of fun.

I'll be adding to this section as my collection grows -- and I'd be happy to add other vintage daylily items if you would like to send a photo by e-mail.

Rob is a collector of Golden Age (1930s to 1950s) comic books and the more bizarre they are, the better he likes them. He brought this one  from 1952 to my attention -- check out the flower that "Tara The Killer Lily" is popping out of and the spidery daylilies in the bottom corners!

I found this Doug Hook poster from 1981 advertising an art exhibit at a local auction. The original painting is titled "Day Lilies."

This is an original page from "Flora's Feast: A Masque of Flowers." Penned and pictured by Walter Crane, published by Cassell & Company, 1889.
