Welcome!
The
focus of my small hybridizing program is to produce unique and hardy
daylilies that are more than just a pretty face. Seedlings are grown
in open field beds without winter mulch or protection from constant lake
winds. The daylilies that have proven to be tough enough to thrive
despite the freeze/thaw cycles, bitter cold and occasional ice storms
that occur during our Southern Ontario winters have become the
foundation plants of my program.
Thanks to
everyone who purchased the first Ball Point Gardens daylily
introductions last season. We sold out of all available plants
quickly and your comments and support have been truly appreciated.
There will be just a few divisions of the '09 plants for sale in this
year's listing including H. 'Chuckanut Diamond in the Ruf' which is
being offered on the website for the first time (see Previous Introductions link above).
In
order to increase available plants, I am holding my new introductions until Spring 2011 -- some of these can be seen in the
Seedlings & Future Introductions slideshow (link above) or in
this
Picasa photo album The registered names will be added to the
photos as they are approved by the American Hemerocallis Society.

At the Can-Am meeting in April, 2009, I was very honoured to receive two awards from the Ontario Daylily Society for the seedlings pictured above. The
Unusual Form entry was also the overall winner of the 2008 Douglas
Lycett
Award for Excellence in Canadian Hybridizing. My sincere thanks to the
Ontario Daylily Society and to Mr. Henry Lorrain for making this awards
program available to encourage and promote Canadian daylilies.

Once again I am pleased to offer an interesting selection of daylilies for Spring 2010 delivery. Apologies for
not having photos of all the cultivars – I made some last minute
decisions to add a number of daylilies to the list and did not have
photos on hand. Most of the plants on the list are limited in
quantity and some are quite difficult to find in Canada so early ordering is advised. As always, your questions and
comments are welcomed, just click on the image below to e-mail.
Think
Spring!
